Introducing Ethereum

Check out this 10 minute ethereum explainer video!

“Hi, I’m Charles Hoskinson, a core developer on the ethereum project.

I’d like to take a moment to reflect upon the incredible response we’ve received at the Miami Bitcoin Conference.

We travelled there anticipating many technical questions, as well as a philosophical discussion about the purpose of ethereum. We were astounded by the overwhelming amount of interest and enthusiasm for our ideas. Vitalik’s presentation was met with both a standing ovation, and a question queue that took over an hour to address.

From the knowledge we gained, and the staggering investment interest – we feel that the best option is to postpone the february 1st launch of the fundraiser. Until such a time that we can ensure that it is both fair for all participants, and as widely available as possible. We would also like to have a longer opportunity to review the relevant regulations and prepare the due diligence documents for a fundraiser of this scale. We will make the announcement of the new fundraiser date on our official website, ethereum.org.

There have been some scams in the forums, thus please use caution and only consider information posted on ethereum.org to be legitimate.

We are still planning on releasing the centralized test network on February 1st for public download and review. We are also planning on an announcement for February 20th, regarding our plans to innovate the social engagement side of ethereum. Over the coming weeks you’ll see many new documents, roadmaps, lines of code and opportunities to get involved.

It’s our hope that you’ll have a chance to be part of our movement in the most fulfilling capacity whether that be investor, developer, evangelist, marketer, organizer or even critic.

In the end, we are defined by the people in our ecosystem. I look forward to working with you all. Stay hungry, stay innovative, and thank you!”
